Over the Last couple of years the fishery has grown a bit and is settling in nicely, the fish are thriving and there have been some fantastic bags of fish for the pleaure angler and match boys.

We now have a forth lake that has been stocked quite heavily from fish in our own stock ponds and have setteled in very nicely, this is a ideal venue for the dads and lads market aswell as the smaller clubs and i forsee this little pond becoming a firm favourite with the General float fisherman aswell as the pole boys.

The back lake has spectacular views over open farmland and on a good day you can see for miles all around.

The Middle lake has been very consistent for 20Ib class fish and we have had some nice 30Ib plus Carp out to 36Ib, including 3 out over 33Ib, the 20Ib fish are plentiful and on the right day/night you can quite easily have 3 or 4 20Ib fish

A short clip on how to lose a Barbel

ECHO ANGLING WEDNESDAY 25TH MARCH 2009
CHURCHGATE STRIKES GOLD WITH SILVERFISH HAUL

The top and back lakes at Churchgate Lakes Fishery are set to become premier silverfish venues following the introduction of almost two tons of roach and bream.

The Rectory Lane Battlesbridge venue boasts four lakes and is already recognised as a superb carp and mixed fishery.  Now Fishery manager Tony Runnalls has set about establishing the top and back lakes as top silverfish match venues. Already he has introduced more than a ton of quality roach and in excess of half a ton of bream. Some of the roach scaled over a pound, and the bream were up to five pounds. In addition to these superb silverfish Tench to over five pounds have also been introduced.

The fish were supplied by Mick Toomer who is currently removing his stock from Gloucester Park following Basildon Council’s decision not to renew the lease he has held for sixteen years.

Churchgate Fishery Manager and Consultant to World famous Hardy, Tony Runnalls said,

“I’ve wanted to improve our silverfish match potential for some while, and this has given me the opportunity to do so.

The quality of Mick Toomer’s Gloucester Park roach is legendary.

When I heard they were available I spoke to my boss Mr Govey and he agreed the investment.  I’ve already spent five days helping Mick to net the fish at Gloucester Park.  As soon as the fish are netted they are into the tank and on their way to Churchgate.  Stress is kept to a minimum, and less than half an hour after coming out of Gloucester Park they are in their new home.

This is a unique opportunity to get a huge volume of superb quality fish, and it’s an opportunity we at Churchgate are taking full advantage of. We’ve already had over a ton and a half of roach, bream and Tench, and we will be taking a lot more over the next week”.

Day tickets at the Churchgate top and back lakes cost £10 and £8.00 consession, with the Top Back and bottom lakes available for club and match bookings.  There will also be a match series at the lakes.  Enquiries about day tickets, whole lake bookings or forthcoming matches should be made to Tony Runnalls on 07798 902315.
